The Break-Up: See It Only If You Want One.

In my ongoing series of "Straight Guy Reviews Chick Flicks," The Break-Up gets a definite DON'T SEE. Obviously, you might think that it should be good because Vince Vaughn is usually funny and Jennifer Aniston is not bad to look at. Even though this was clearly a chick oriented romantic comedy, I thought it might be enjoyable because I heard Vince Vaughn was playing a fat Polish Chicago sports fan . But he wasn't funny at all, just pathetic. Vaughn's video game trash talking couldn't rescue his character from the making me embarrased to be in the same theater with him. Jennifer Aniston, who is usually quite cute, is just bitchy and not even funny-bitchy, just downer-bitchy - the guy is an oaf and she just keeps trying to win him back in an immature way. Even in the one scene where you get to see her character naked it's so clear that there's a body double that I couldn't even get interested.
In addition to being depressing without making you think, the film weakly tries to bring up so many typical guy-girl/Mars-Venus couple fights that it's almost impossible to avoid having a typical guy-girl/Mars-Venus couple fight if you discuss the movie afterward with your girlfriend. The only positive comment I have came from my girl who said, "Jennifer Aniston wore nice clothes".
