The Amazing Volkswagen Beetle
December 25, 2006 at 4:16 PM
This Amazing car and I have a lot of history together. My mother got it in 1965, the year of my birth. As a toddler, I used to beg to ride in the cubby hole in the "way back". In Pacific Grove, I used to play house with Stacy Spung when we were five. In 1981, I learned to drive in this car. It has been sitting in my uncle's yard in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1990.
This car, designed in the 1930's and built in the 1965, has lasted so long. (This car hasn't even been taken care of - notice the pan under the front passenger seat. If American auto makers had been so innovative, Ford and GM probably wouldn't be in so much trouble.
