Some Wisdom from an Anglo-Southerner

I leave you with this piece of Wisdom from my friend Allan Heye, a good North Carolina boy living in London for the last 12 years.  He always has wisdom to impart in his semi British semi Southern accent.  I call him when I need some.  Yesterday he gave me this one:
  Allan Speaks

It is better to be INTERESTED than to be INTERESTING.

Dear E. (I know who you are my friend - but will not betray your identity)

Life is more rich when you focus on being interested in other things.  Allan reminded me that when one focuses on being interesting to others you lose your chance to learn and grow.  To be interested in others connects you to them and builds relationships.  If you are interesting you can obtain attention and praise but you may not connect.  This is a lesson I struggle with in my life.  It is one I am reminded through life experience to learn all the time.   Allan was kind enough to remind me that right now is a time to learn that lesson again.
