ex wall streeters always appear to be rich. Did anyone ever leave who did not have enought $ to live on or play with, i.e. leave when or while poor?
    A good question, huh?

Yeah, good question.  Yeah. I know lots of them.  They are some of the happiest people I know.  I have one friend who is a starving film maker. I know another who rode his motor cycle around the world for two years, spent all his money and is now struggling as a salesman and entrepreneur, I know another who is a waitress trying to be an actress.

I think there are two careers it seems people do for the money but hate: Wall Street and Corporate Law (there are some who just love these jobs but not many).  Surprisingly, when I run into guys I knew from Wall Street who have loads (and I mean multiples) more money than I do - they always ask me how I can afford to leave.  They also always say things like, "I wish I had the guts you have - I would leave if I could afford it."  I just feel sorry for them.  They assume that because I left, I'm super rich.  Funny thing is that the all have loads more money than I do.  I just don't spend much and I trade quite well.  Then the question is always, "why don't you start a hedge fund?"  I've been given plenty of opportunities and potential funding to do just that - but that would make me the same person - (chasing money and lonely) that I was on Wall Street.  I am far from having the life I want but I know that more money is about the last thing that will move me in the direction of that life.
